Ready to start stocking your café with top-quality supplies? A reliable commercial-grade coffee grinder that can handle the task of high-volume environments is a must. Mahlkonig is recognized as the best of the best in this category, and E65S and E65S GbW are two of the top sellers by this brand. Interested in learning more about which is the best fit for your coffee bar? We share the key similarities and differences here:

E65S Specs

If your baristas prefer using a separate scale for dosing, the E65S by Mahlkonig is an excellent choice. This machine is functionally similar to the E65S Grind-By-Weight (GbW) model, but the dosing method isn’t integrated. However, this product is equipped with the same 65 mm burr size as the E65S GbW and also has the same hopper capacity of 2.6 lbs. The E65S is marginally faster than the GbW option, clocking in with a burr speed of 5-7 grams per second compared to 4-5 grams per second (although we find that the difference in speed is barely detectable in action). It also has a slightly smaller footprint than the GbW, weighing two pounds less and measuring about two inches shorter in height.

E65S GbW Specs

Looking for a high-tech espresso grinder? Mahlkonig’s E65S GbW is the first of its kind. In a class all its own, this product features brand-new grind-by-weight technology. With weight-based dosing and patented Disc Distance Detection (DDD), this machine offers the ultimate precision in coffee grinding. Like the standard E65S, the GbW version is powered by 110 volts and provides a pleasantly quiet experience. Its high-resolution display has a wide viewing angle that makes it easy for baristas to take readings, and the product’s cooling system keeps the machine from overheating.

If you’re on the search for a great espresso grinder for your café, Mahlkonig’s E65S and E65S GbW are both excellent options to consider. For those interested in ditching the scale in favor of an innovative dosing approach, the GbW is your best choice. However, the grinding performance of these two machines are almost identical. Since the GbW model features the newest technology, it comes with a higher price tag than the standard E65S. If you have further questions regarding these two Mahlkonig products, we’d love to help you find the perfect fit. Please contact our team with any questions you may have.
