La Marzocco KB90 AV Auto-Volumetric Espresso Machine

The La Marzocco KB90 AV (auto-volumetric) espresso machine is the ultimate evolution of the Linea PB form. Designed to optimize the workflow for the barista in the world’s busiest commercial environments by improving the ergonomics and features of the machine; the most notable of which is the Straight-In portafilter design. With the KB90, La Marzocco set out to to make the lives of the barista easier and more efficient, and this machine embodies this philosophy.

In a high-volume, commercial setting, ease of use and simpler workflows are everything. The Straight-In portafilter feature found on the KB90 AV is designed to simplify the motions required to engage the portafilter and noticeably reduce the strain on baristas. This thoughtful highlight mitigates the repetitive stress injuries occurring through its ease of action, improving the workflow and output of the barista. Additionally, each time the portafilter is removed, a burst of steam and hot water flush takes place, keeping each group head clean, negating the need for the barista to perform this action manually.

As an auto-volumetric machine, the KB90 is capable of being programmed to produce precise shot volumes. However, La Marzocco has taken this feature a step further with the integration of their Auto-Brew Ratio function. This optional add-on integrates precision scales directly into the machine’s drip tray to improve espresso consistency by stopping the extraction based on mass. The KB90 then uses an algorithm called Drip Prediction to improve shot accuracy and make dialing your shots in easier than ever. The KB90 espresso machine is a true workhorse that will meet the demands of any high-volume, commercial cafe setting.
